The Lubuskie region – including the University of Zielona Góra – is further opening up to cooperation with China. On Friday, 31 October this year, a meeting was held at the Marshal’s Office, bringing together representatives of regional and city authorities, the business sector, and the University of Zielona Góra, as well as the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Lu Shan. The discussions focused, among other topics, on trade and cultural exchange. Particular emphasis was also placed on the region’s economic development, driven by innovation and new technologies.
The meeting also included a strong academic component.
“During the meeting, I provided information about opportunities for students from China to pursue their education at our University in programmes taught in English. Since 2016, the University of Zielona Góra has hosted nearly 140 students from China participating in academic exchange programmes, including the Erasmus+ programme implemented by the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Mathematics. Due to growing interest and high demand among Chinese students, further discussions on cooperation are currently underway, including with Chongqing Normal University, and are being extended to all scientific disciplines at the University of Zielona Góra. This opens the door to broader educational and research cooperation between our institutions,” said Prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, DSc, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation at the University of Zielona Góra.
It is also worth noting that the University of Zielona Góra offers students and academic staff from China the opportunity to participate in academic mobility programmes funded under Erasmus+ and by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). The University also actively cooperates with Chinese research institutions, making use of programmes that support the mobility of researchers between Poland and China. This creates new opportunities for educational and research development for both sides.
