Visiting Professors at the University of Zielona Góra
Building an open, international university that ensures the highest quality of scientific research and fostering internationalized education are among the many important goals of the University of Zielona Góra. In the 2023/2024 academic year, our university hosted 12 visiting professors from around the world.
Visiting professors are highly active individuals in recognized international research centers. Their stay at our university results not only in high-quality research conducted in collaboration with UZ scientists. It is also an opportunity for students who—thanks to the inclusion of global perspectives in the curriculum—gain rich and diverse educational experiences that align with the idea of internationalization.
Prof. Jewhen Sinkewycz – Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy (Ukraine)
Prof. Jewhen Sinkewycz from the Department of World History and International Relations at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy visited the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Zielona Góra from October 2 to November 17, 2023, as part of cooperation with the Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences at UZ.
Prof. Sinkewycz is the author of four monographs, two textbooks, and over 220 scientific articles published in Ukraine, Poland, the USA, Slovenia, Germany, and Russia. His academic achievements have been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which awarded him the "For Scientific and Educational Achievements" medal. He also served as Vice President of the Ukrainian Academy of Social Sciences. During his stay, he taught courses in Political Science and International Political Relations. He also met with faculty members of the Institute. His host was dr Piotr Pochyły.
Prof. Margarida Pocinho – University of Madeira (Portugal)
Prof. Margarida Pocinho, an associate professor with habilitation at the University of Madeira, visited the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Zielona Góra from October 8, 2023, to January 19, 2024, in collaboration with the Psychology program.
Prof. Pocinho has participated in advanced international music therapy courses at Université Paris V and studied U.S. culture and society as a Fulbright scholar at New York University. She has also worked as a researcher at the Institute of Cognitive Psychology at the University of Coimbra and evaluated FCT scholarship projects. She is the author of three books and numerous articles in psychology and education. She has supervised 57 master's theses and 15 doctoral dissertations and was a member of the General Council of the University of Madeira. During her stay at UZ, she taught classes related to her specialization. Her host was dr Marzanna Farnicka.
Dr Milan Edl – University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic)
Dr Milan Edl from the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zielona Góra from October 2, 2023, to June 28, 2024, in cooperation with the Management and Production Engineering program.
Prof. Edl specializes in Management and Production Engineering. His research focuses on modern methods of production process management and optimization of engineering systems. While at UZ, he taught courses and collaborated with researchers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. His host was prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska.
Prof. Kseniia Smyrnova – Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine)
Prof. Kseniia Smyrnova from the Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv visited the Faculty of Social Sciences of UZ from December 1, 2023, to February 28, 2024, as part of cooperation with the Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences.
During her stay, she conducted classes in Political Science, sharing her knowledge and experience in international relations. The visit was also an opportunity for academic exchange and collaboration. Her host was dr Piotr Pochyły.
Dr Martha Leticia Gaeta Gonzalez – Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (Mexico)
Dr Martha Leticia Gaeta Gonzalez from the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla visited the Faculty of Social Sciences during the summer semester of 2023/2024 in cooperation with the Psychology program.
She conducted practical classes on conflict resolution in educational environments as part of the Educational and Developmental Psychology specialization. Her teaching focused on coping strategies in challenging educational situations and building positive school relationships. Her host was dr Marzanna Farnicka.
Prof. Stefan Garsztecki – Technische Universität Chemnitz (Germany)
Prof. Stefan Garsztecki from Technische Universität Chemnitz visited UZ from February 27 to April 17, 2024, in cooperation with the International Political Relations program.
During his visit, he taught classes in international relations and collaborated with the Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences. His host was dr Piotr Pochyły.
Dr Olena Oliynyk – National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv (Ukraine)
Dr Olena Oliynyk from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Engineering at UZ from February 26 to April 12, 2024, in cooperation with the Architecture and Urban Planning program.
She is a professor in the Department of Architectural Design and head of the Interior Architecture Division at the National Academy. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of Architecture and Prestige magazine and a regional coordinator of the EU project Regional Cooperation for the Development of Cultural Heritage.
With over 40 years of experience in architecture, urban planning, and heritage protection, she has led over 20 urban revitalization projects in Ukraine, the U.S., and Cape Verde and designed over 30 residential buildings and 20 public facilities. Her work has been recognized in 11 national and international urban planning competitions. At UZ, she conducted classes and consultations in architecture and urban planning. Her host was dr Inna Abramiuk.
Prof. Tetiana Dubovyk – Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics (Ukraine)
Prof. Tetiana Dubovyk visited the Faculty of Social Sciences at UZ from February 27 to June 15, 2024, in collaboration with the Political Science program.
She taught courses in politics and international relations and engaged in academic exchange and scientific cooperation. Her host was dr Piotr Pochyły.
Dr Khoushnaw Tillo – Swedish Institute for Strategic Studies and Academic Research (Stockholm, Sweden)
Dr Khoushnaw Tillo from the Swedish Institute for Strategic Studies and Academic Research visited UZ from April 3 to June 15, 2024, in collaboration with the International Political Relations and Political Science programs.
He conducted classes in international relations and political science and collaborated with researchers from the Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences. His host was dr Piotr Pochyły.
Prof. Daniele Giuseppe Stasi – University of Foggia (Italy)
Prof. Daniele Giuseppe Stasi from the University of Foggia visited UZ from April 1 to April 30, 2024, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences.
He is the professor and expert in the history of political thought. During his stay, he taught courses in this field and engaged in academic exchange and cooperation. His host was prof. Krzysztof Kilian.
Prof. Dana Kominkova – Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic)
Prof. Dana Kominkova visited UZ in May 2024 in cooperation with the Environmental Engineering program. She is the expert in environmental engineering, focusing on environmental protection and sustainable development. During her stay, she taught classes and held consultations. Her host was prof. Andrzej Greinert.
Dr. Jiri Kropac – Faculty of Arts, Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic)
Dr. Jiri Kropac from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University visited UZ from April 8 to June 19, 2024, in cooperation with the Sociology program.
He is an assistant professor specializing in social design and the application of sociology in social projects. During his stay, he taught related courses and collaborated with the department. His host was dr Piotr Pochyły.
